At 39.95m (131’1’’), the Wally 130 Black Sails stands out as a signature creation of the Italian builder. Launched in 2009, she showcases naval architecture by Javier Soto Acebal and a striking exterior styled by Amanda Levete. Her all-black hull and carbon accents emphasize performance and allure.
Since her debut, Black Sails has had an eventful journey. In 2010, she underwent a comprehensive rebuild at Lürssen in Germany. Harrison Eidsgaard revamped the interior while Vedder GmbH completed the outfitting. The exterior saw new teak decks and a redesigned structure, earning the 2011 World Superyacht Award for Best Refit. In 2013, Hinckley Yachts executed a second refit, and the current owner ensures regular upgrades each winter.
Performance is at the core of her design. Equipped with a Hall Spars high-modulus carbon rig and EC6 carbon standing rigging, Black Sails is perfect for efficient cruising or competitive regattas. Her 450hp MAN engine allows a cruising speed of 11 knots, ensuring long-distance travel even when the wind is calm. For a 40-meter yacht, she balances speed and manageability, suited for a crew of five.
Harrison Eidsgaard’s interiors offer a minimalist yet elegant ambiance. The main salon features a lounge area to starboard and a formal dining table to port, illuminated by large windows. She accommodates up to 11 guests across four cabins, including a master suite with a queen-size bed and ensuite shower. Two cabins can switch between twin and double layouts with Pullman beds, ideal for families. A fourth cabin, currently an office, converts into a guest space with bunks. Each cabin boasts its own bathroom.
The crew quarters provide space for five, ensuring exceptional service whether cruising or racing. The layout’s versatility means she can transition seamlessly between family use, chartering, and regatta participation.
Black Sails has cemented her reputation as a milestone in Wally’s evolution of large sailing yachts. With an award-winning refit pedigree and continued high-standard maintenance, she remains in turn-key condition, ready for her next adventure, complete with EU VAT paid and a history of investment.
