Dutch entrepreneur and passionate yacht owner Hans Kortlevers has officially acquired the renowned yacht-building brand Jongert Yachts, marking an exciting new chapter for the historic shipyard. The announcement, shared online by Kortlevers himself, signals a renewed vision for the brand known for its exceptional semi-custom and fully custom yachts.
Under Kortlevers’ leadership, Jongert Yachts will focus on two ambitious flagship projects:
- a 55‑metre, 500 GT sailing yacht, and
- a 500 GT motor catamaran.
Both designs aim to blend Jongert’s signature craftsmanship with forward-thinking innovation, delivering vessels that meet the expectations of today’s modern yacht owners.
“This is not just an acquisition—this is a statement of intent,” said Kortlevers, who has built his reputation as an investor in both luxury hospitality and the biotech sector. “These projects show our commitment to pushing boundaries while honouring the values that have defined Jongert for decades.”
Founded in 1953, Jongert Yachts has a long legacy of collaborating with top architects and designers, as well as its own in-house team. From its strategic location near the IJsselmeer in the Netherlands, the brand has produced more than 20 superyachts—most of them sailing yachts—and made waves in 2010 with its largest motor yacht to date, the 39‑metre Smooth Operator.
Looking ahead, Kortlevers is clear about his ambitions:
“Our mission is simple—to build future-ready superyachts that combine intelligent engineering, timeless design, and a deep, authentic connection to the sea.”
With new leadership, bold flagship projects, and a renewed sense of purpose, Jongert Yachts is poised to write the next exciting chapter in its storied history.
