CAMPER AND NICHOLSON UK
After a two-year upgrade, S/Y CANDIDA, the remarkable 36.15m (118’60”) classic sailing yacht, is now on the market!
Designed by Charles E. Nicholson in Gosport, UK, CANDIDA was launched in 1929 for banker H.A. Andreae. Originally built under the 23-Metre Class rules, she was later converted to J Class rating, showcasing her versatility and pedigree. With elegant interiors that accommodate six guests in three cabins, this yacht perfectly balances charm and comfort.
Powered by dual CAT engines with 322 hp each, CANDIDA reaches a maximum speed of 11 knots and cruises gracefully at 10 knots. She stands out as one of the few remaining J Class yachts, making her a significant piece of sailing history. Maintained impeccably, she has always been cherished by the elite of the yachting community.
The recent refit was entrusted to skilled contractors renowned for their craftsmanship, ensuring that CANDIDA’s character and heritage were preserved throughout the process. This elegant classic yacht has transformed from a competitive J Class racer into a beautifully restored masterpiece, ready to grace the regatta circuit.
Currently lying in Athens, Greece, CANDIDA is available for €5,000,000. Initially built for H.A. Andreae, she was reclassified to J Class a year later, featuring a metal mast and an enhanced keel design that delivered impressive results.
Nicholson later converted CANDIDA into a yawl named ‘Norlanda’ for her new owner. After a comprehensive restoration in 1989 at Cantieri Navali Beconcini in La Spezia, Italy, she proudly returned to racing at the Nioulargue in 1991, facing off against her old rivals, Astra and Endeavour.
CANDIDA has participated in numerous prestigious events, including the classic regatta in Imperia in 2004 and the Spetses Regatta in Greece in 2011 and 2012. This is your chance to own a piece of maritime history!
