B & G BOATWORKS EXPLORER
COMPASS ROSE is a 161’ 5´´(49,20m) aluminium long‑range displacement yacht built by C & G Boatworks in 2011 and refit in 2015. Designed for global cruising, she offers the range, redundancy and operational capability typically found on larger expedition vessels, while remaining within the 50‑metre class. With an aluminium hull and superstructure and a gross tonnage of approximately 621, she combines strength, efficiency and substantial interior volume.
Powered by twin Caterpillar 3508B engines, COMPASS ROSE cruises at 12 knots, reaches 15 knots at top speed and achieves a range exceeding 9,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. Her offshore readiness is supported by large fuel reserves, gravity‑fed day tanks, a fuel‑centrifuge purification system and a double‑hull fuel tank design.
Her engineering platform emphasizes autonomy and redundancy, featuring three 100 kW generators, emergency battery reserves, redundant sea chests, extensive fuel and oil management systems and commercial‑grade electrical installations. Additional systems include two high‑capacity watermakers, copper‑nickel raw‑water plumbing and Hydro‑Pac pressure regulation. Serviceability is enhanced through soft‑patch deck access to the engine room.
Guest accommodations include five staterooms for up to 10 guests—comprising a king master, three queen VIPs and a double‑twin cabin. Crew quarters support up to 10 across five cabins, enabling full staffing for extended operations. A 36‑foot beam contributes to spacious, comfortable interior living areas.
The navigation and communication suite features Furuno radar, gyrocompass, autopilot, TimeZero plotting, FLIR night vision, KVH satellite systems and Starlink Maritime connectivity.
Her tender and equipment inventory is extensive and exploration‑focused, including a 42’ Gamefisherman walkaround, 30’ Munson Pack Cat landing craft, 20’ Zodiac RIB, two 2020 Sea‑Doo EX Sport PWCs and inflatable paddleboards. Safety systems exceed typical recreational standards, with multi‑point fire suppression, firefighting stations, survival gear and certified life rafts.
