FEADSHIP
Constance, previously named Paminusch, Monteath, Montigne, and Jana, is a 46.12‑metre motor yacht built by Feadship in the Netherlands and delivered in 1986. Powered by twin Caterpillar diesel engines, she reaches a top speed of 18 knots, cruises at 12 knots, and has a maximum range of 3,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. The yacht accommodates up to 10 guests in five staterooms and carries a crew of nine. She has a gross tonnage of 418 GT, an 8.41‑metre beam, a teak deck, a steel hull, and an aluminium superstructure. Both the exterior design and naval architecture were completed by Frits De Voogt.
In July 2016, Pendennis completed an extensive 18‑month refit of Constance. Upon arrival in Falmouth in December 2014, the yacht still retained many original 30‑year‑old systems, and a surveyor deemed her uninsurable. The refit focused on restoring structural integrity for offshore cruising, modernising equipment to improve efficiency and meet emissions regulations, and updating the interiors to the new owners’ preferences.
All bridge and engine‑room systems were replaced, insulation was upgraded, and tanking systems were rebuilt as required. Pendennis’ interior team restored and reinstalled original woodwork, while the crew areas, galley, and laundry were completely rebuilt with new equipment and custom furniture. To comply with the latest MCA Large Yacht Code “Unrestricted Service,” significant attention was given to damage stability, including the addition of new watertight subdivisions. Exterior work included installing two new deck cranes, laying new teak decks, and a full repaint.
Constance returned to Pendennis five years later for a second, nine‑month refit completed in 2021. The scope included a full repaint with corrective fairing, corrosion treatment, underwater blasting and antifouling, and repairs to steel and aluminium structures. Additional work covered servicing shafts, stabilisers, the thruster, and main deck machinery, alongside minor engineering and interior updates. She was relaunched in July 2021.
