EXPLORER YACHT BY ICON YACHTS

PROJECT MASTER: The Ultimate Transformation by ICON Yachts

Introducing Project MASTER, the epitome of major conversions by ICON Yachts. Crafted for extreme cruising, conservation, and exploration, this stunning transformation leverages ICON’s vast expertise in turning robust commercial vessels into luxurious explorer yachts.

As the world’s leading shipyard in such conversions, ICON Yachts specializes in merging durable hulls with opulent interiors—all at a more appealing price compared to standard new builds.

Originally a 66m/216’ North Sea Emergency Rescue and Response Vessel (ERRV), Project MASTER was chosen for her sleek hull shape, strong oceangoing bow, and proven comfort in rough waters. The exterior design was masterfully reimagined by Espen Øino, who extended her hull to 69.6m/228’, optimizing her for long-range efficiency. Winch Design stepped in to create a stunning interior suited for private use or chartering in any environment, including the most remote polar regions.

Inside, Project MASTER boasts expansive common areas for work and leisure, a private owner’s suite, two VIP staterooms, and three spacious guest cabins. Amenities include spa facilities, a science lab, an extensive diving locker, and remarkable outdoor deck spaces for enjoying the great outdoors.

With specifications that hit all the right notes, MASTER stands just under 3000GT and comes with Polar Code C Certification. Her innovative diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system with Voith eVSP propellers enables an impressive range of 6,700 nautical miles at 10 knots. The yacht also features dynamic positioning and a commercially certified helipad capable of supporting an EC145 helicopter, along with two sturdy 11.75m/38’6” North Sea tenders, each capable of exceeding 35 knots.

Built at Kleven Verft in Norway, known for their craftsmanship on the 106m and 117m ‘Ulysses’ explorer yachts, MASTER serves as the perfect foundation for this ambitious conversion. The process of a major conversion involves repurposing an existing vessel, enhancing its performance, and extending its lifespan.

Following a thorough feasibility study, MASTER met all technical, economic, and regulatory criteria, earning the green light for this transformative project. Classification societies meticulously review and approve design plans, inspect construction, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards before certifying the vessel.

Cutting-Edge Propulsion System

The innovative Voith Schneider Propeller (VSP) integrates propulsion, steering, and stabilization into one unit. Developed over 90 years ago, this system is utilized globally for precise and efficient maneuvering.

The electric variant, the eVSP, is not only reliable and energy-efficient but also compact, delivering maximum thrust with incredible precision in all directions. Its powerful integrated electric motor ensures direct power conversion into thrust, minimizing noise and maintenance costs.

Thoughtfully Designed Interiors

Winch Design crafted MASTER’s interior with long voyages in mind, emphasizing spaciousness and comfort. The layout, based on Espen Øino’s functional design, features generous headroom (2.50m/8’2”) and floor-to-ceiling windows throughout guest areas.

The entertainment deck, located one level above the main deck, includes a vast 123m²/1324 ft² salon complete with dining and relaxation spaces, plus the owner’s kitchen. For those who need to blend business with pleasure, a large guest study and private office are also available. Forward, the spa facilities include a massage room, gym, sauna, and steam room.

Accommodations for guests are located on the main deck and include two VIP staterooms and three guest suites, along with an inviting entrance area featuring a ski room. Below deck, you’ll find a fully equipped science lab and diving facilities.

At the top of the yacht, the Owner’s Deck features a spacious master stateroom complete with “his and her” dressing rooms and a luxurious bathroom, including a tub for her. The private study and living area open onto a secluded deck, offering a serene retreat.

The bridge, designed for guest use, provides 360° views and includes a planning area, the Admiral’s table, and a cozy lounge overlooking the helicopter deck.

In summary, Project MASTER represents the pinnacle of yachting innovation, combining luxury, efficiency, and adventure in one extraordinary vessel.
