HOLLAND JACHTBOUW

40m J Class Sailing Yacht RAINBOW for Sale After Major Refit

The iconic 40-metre J Class sailing yacht RAINBOW, crafted by Holland Jachtbouw, is back on the market after an extensive two-year refit completed in 2024.

Originally delivered in 2012 as a modern replica of the legendary 1934 America’s Cup winner, RAINBOW blends classic heritage with cutting-edge technology. Designed by Dykstra Naval Architects, she’s built in aluminium, capturing the spirit of the original Herreshoff masterpiece while embracing modern performance.

Under the ownership of renowned yachtsman Neville Crichton, RAINBOW’s recent refit included a fresh paint job, redesigned deck layout and rig, new sails and winches, and a full engineering overhaul. Her upgrades were put to the test at the 2024 Superyacht Cup Palma, where she earned the Spirit of the Event award.

RAINBOW is also a World Superyacht Award winner (2013), and stands out as the first J Class yacht to feature a complete hybrid propulsion system, developed with WhisperPower. This allows for silent, eco-friendly cruising for up to three hours, with ample hydraulic power on tap for racing or quiet sailing underway.

Step inside to discover a mahogany-panelled Art Deco interior by deVosdeVries Design. RAINBOW accommodates up to eight guests in three en suite cabins—a master suite, double, and a twin with two Pullman berths—plus space for seven crew. The main saloon features generous built-in seating opposite a formal dining table for ten, flooded with natural light from large windows. On deck, enjoy al fresco dining for up to twelve guests.

Lloyds classed and MCA compliant, RAINBOW currently lies in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, and is offered for sale at €9,950,000 (VAT paid).
