The French two-masted Schooner WEATHERBIRD is more than just a classic yacht; it’s a piece of maritime history. Measuring 101 feet (31 meters), she was built in 1931 by the renowned Chantier Navals de Normandie, with designs crafted by Russian aristocrat Victor Orloff and French designer Henri Rambaud. This yacht is perfect for adventurers seeking a platform for exploration. After numerous updates and a comprehensive mechanical refit in 2021, she’s in remarkable condition.

Commissioned by high-society American couple Sara and Gerald Murphy, WEATHERBIRD became a muse for artists, writers, and musicians alike. Gerald’s family founded Mark Cross Company, known for luxury leather goods, while Sara’s family was prominent in East Hampton, owning the famous 30-room mansion, “The Dunes.” After moving to the French Riviera, they launched WEATHERBIRD, hosting iconic guests including Cole Porter, Coco Chanel, Ernest Hemingway, Dorothy Parker, and Picasso. Rumor has it that F. Scott Fitzgerald drew inspiration from the Murphys for his characters in “Tender Is the Night.”

The yacht accommodates up to eight guests in four classic staterooms, alongside five crewmembers. The master cabin features a spacious double berth, a vanity desk, and ample storage. A double cabin and two cabins with single bunks complete the guest accommodations.

Inside, WEATHERBIRD showcases timeless 1930s styling, as if frozen in time. The main salon exudes romance with its beautiful mix of dark and light woods, abundant natural light, and a cozy U-shaped seating area with a table and bar. The spacious exterior deck areas invite guests to relax and socialize while enjoying stunning views.
